Despite a 5 decade plus run, the Hard Bop idiom remains one of the most classic and vibrant of all jazz sub-genres. Its immense contemporary freshness makes it difficult to place the year of any performance; only the recording technology offers a hint as to the date of its capture. The no-nonsense take no-prisoners mindset of artistic expression is elegantly captured in one of jazz's most enduring forms. Sit back and dig the sounds of hearty hard bop.
